GQ or 'gold quartz' is, basically, gold ore. When this ore is rich and aesthetic enough, it becomes desirable as jewellery-grade gemstone. For hundreds of years, jewellers have been incorporating it into spectacular, karat-gold, works of art. Almost any kind of rock can be cut and made into cabs, but GQ is a different mineral altogether because it carries the precious cargo, gold. You would not wish to crush this type of stone just to extract the gold from it.
 
The stone/cabochon hails from the 16TO1 Mine. There is very little ore being produced from this mine at present. 
There is no black arsenopyrite showing here nor any mineralization and the stone has no fissures, only pure flawless white quartz and gold, a fact which makes this the most popular, most in-demand gold quartz presently available.
 
The Native gold in the quartz is between 22k to 24k purity.
